Meet Brett Mehlman, Rob Carney & Amanda Cruz

Brett Mehlman

Holistic Lifestyle Coach, ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, Yoga Alliance Experienced 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, Chek Golf Performance Specialist, Wilderness First Responder

Brett began his journey into integrated health and wellness back in his mid teens, through the struggles of being overweight in highschool. Deciding it was time for a lifestyle change, he trained himself in weightlifting, studied human anatomy, and started working as a personal trainer from college onward.

Following a near-death experience that required major abdominal surgery cutting through his abdominal wall from bellybutton to sternum, Brett was left with a destroyed core and musculoskeletal dysfunction. When multiple visits to physical therapists and chiropractors failed to provide any substantial solutions, he sought relief from chronic pain through holistic medicinal approaches; including yoga and massage therapy. From that point moving forward, his life was forever changed. The more he practiced and explored alternative health disciplines alongside traditional Western medicine, the stronger he healed, both physically and mentally.

Now, as a licensed massage therapist, holistic lifestyle coach, and Yoga Alliance 200-Hour Instructor (E-RYT) with nearly a decade’s worth of teaching experience, Brett empowers his students and clients to cultivate balance and happiness in their daily lives.

Drawing inspiration from both Eastern and Western traditions, as well as personal life lessons, Brett firmly believes in the power of mindful discipline. Strict, yet approachable, his teachings connect structural alignment to overall body awareness. Those that work closely with Brett know that, as an action-oriented leader, he is truly dedicated to helping people reach their fullest potential.

Rob Carney

Rob Carney is a Holistic Lifestyle Coach from the suburbs of Boston. Motivated by a concussion that knocked him out of activities (literally) at 17 years old, he set out on a mission to become the best version of himself and empower others in the process. Rob has worked with many of the best nutritionists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and other integrative practitioners south of Boston. Each experience has been a stepping stone of learning and growth which has led to the next. In early 2017, Rob set out on his journey to Southeast Asia. It was here that some monumental shifts occurred. Being able to live in the jungles of Sri Lanka as the only American, Rob gained perspective and experience connecting without the use of a common language. It’s the small details that can make all the difference. In late 2018, Rob returned from 9 months of living in Los Angeles learning from the best in the world of preventative healthcare.

He has returned home to share his experience and message with the rest of the world.

Whole Health Connections was formed after hearing people say they want to be healthy, but don’t know how to start or where to go. Rob has taken it upon himself to be the connection point. He is constantly learning and meeting with practitioners in the area. It is his hope that Whole Health Connections is your one stop shop for finding the right provider for YOU.

Rob is a certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach, Reiki practitioner, & Thai Bodyworker. He has led and collaborated on various health & healing classes such as Restorative yoga with Meditation & Reiki as well as Emotional Release workshops which include breathing, shaking, drumming, meditation, and more!

He is currently focused on his Coaching through 1 on 1 consultations online, live group workshops & retreats, as well as helping others create opportunities for their own lifestyle business.

Amanda Cruz

Amanda Cruz is a freelance writer, editor and 200-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher (E-RYT). Holding a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder, her passion for the written word runs deep. Starting out as a prelaw student, her direction eventually unfolded into the realms of health and wellness, through the art of storytelling. An avid lover of adventure, Amanda makes nature her playground, and movement her medicine.

She was first introduced to yoga as a shy, introverted 18-year-old. It’s safe to say that the discipline cracked her shell, and changed her for the better–both mentally and physically. Now, as a practitioner of 8 years and an instructor of 6, Amanda uses yoga to empower her students to live life to the fullest potential, through means of being present in action. Specializing in alignment-based Vinyasa, she will be assisting throughout yoga sequences during the retreat by providing supportive hands-on adjustments. In addition, she will be documenting the journey from beginning to end–taking photos and videos, all the while drumming up content for future articles and Tuneus media.
